About
Careful work, plainly explained
J.J Stock Research is an independent research practice. We study public companies in depth and publish what we find, including the parts that complicate the story.

Jerome Jostes
Jerome founded J.J Stock Research on a straightforward premise: most investors are not short of information, they are short of time and a reliable filter. The raw material — filings, transcripts, disclosures — is public and free. Reading it properly is the work.
The practice focuses on fundamental, company-level analysis: understanding how a business actually converts effort into cash, where its competitive position is durable, and what would have to be true for an investment to disappoint. That last question gets as much attention as the first two.
Research is published in plain English, with the reasoning shown and the risks named. Clients are expected to disagree with parts of it — that is what a defensible argument is for.

How We Work
Six commitments
These are the standards our research is meant to be held to. If a piece of our work falls short of one, we would rather hear about it.
Evidence over narrative
A compelling story about a company is not evidence. We anchor on filings, cash flows and disclosed facts, and we treat a good narrative as something to be tested rather than repeated.
Show the working
Conclusions without reasoning are just opinions with confidence attached. Our research states its assumptions so you can substitute your own and see what changes.
Name the downside
Every thesis has a failure mode. We identify it explicitly, because the risk you have written down is the one you can actually manage.
No manufactured conviction
When the honest answer is that the evidence is inconclusive, that is the answer we give. Research that always produces a recommendation is marketing.
Client decisions, not ours
We supply analysis. What you do with it — whether it fits your goals, horizon and tolerance for loss — is a judgement only you can make.
Plain language
Jargon usually conceals rather than clarifies. If something cannot be explained in ordinary English, that is a finding worth reporting.
Independence
Who pays for this research
Conflicts of interest are the central problem in published investment research, and the only honest way to address them is disclosure.
J.J Stock Research is compensated by the clients who commission and read its research. We do not accept payment from the companies we cover, and we do not publish paid promotional coverage of any issuer.
To be completed: position-holding policy and any applicable registration or licensing disclosures.
